Today was a full day.
- I realized I left my Rush ID at work somewhere last night, so it was my great honour to walk across the expressway to pay $10 to replace it. On the plus side, it's shiny and new and still heralds me as "Web Project Manager." Heh. The real project manager's ID doesn't even say that.
- I got an unexpected upgrade to a sleeper car on my return trip from Boston for a mere $75. I'll be in Room Twelve if you need me next Tuesday. Amtrak rules.
- The waitress at Flying Saucer was totally hitting on me at lunch.
- During evening rush hour, the Red Line was delayed in both directions -- on one track because of a "sick passenger" on the train; on the other track because of an "unauthorized passenger" on the train. "Unauthorized?" What kind of authorization do you need to ride public transportation? Or is that what they're calling turnstile jumpers these days? Oh, plus, it's game night at Wrigley, so when the northbound train finally did arrive, it was filled with an extra 2000 yahoos decked out in Cubs gear and already half in the bag.
- I saw a car up on the sidewalk that was trying to merge back into traffic. The driver was getting pissed because no one would let him in. Did I mention his car was fully ON THE SIDEWALK?
- For the first time, I heard the fans cheering in Wrigley from my apartment. That was some cool shit. The stadium's like a mile away, yo.
- I discovered that Julian McMahon from Nip/Tuck is an Aussie. I always thought he was suspiciously charming, tan and broad-chested. But don't watch the show just for him. Watch it because it's so wonderfully, awfully wrong in every way. I'll bet money it's the most fun gig any television writer can get right now. Season Two starts in a few weeks! EEEE!!!!
